Weekly Flow:
Week 1 — Characters & Perspective – Discover how shifting viewpoints changes emotional truth. Explore first, second, and third person; craft distinct character voices; and practice writing from perspectives far from your own.
Week 2 — Subtlety & Emotional Truth - Learn how to let emotion reveal itself through imagery, detail, and tone. Practice restraint, avoid melodrama, and write lines that land with quiet power.
Week 3 — Narrative & Arc - Shape your songs like stories. Explore beginnings, middles, and ends; build momentum; and use contrast, tension, and pacing to reveal meaning and transformation.
Week 4 — Songwriting Voice & Style - Identify your creative fingerprints. Rewrite with intention, refine your authentic voice, and understand how influence, tone, and diction shape your songwriting identity.
Course Philosophy:
This course is about discovering the emotional architecture of story — how character, voice, and perspective work together to make a song feel real. Through guided exercises, storytelling techniques, and collaborative reflection, you’ll learn to trust your instincts, write with empathy, and create songs that speak with unmistakable honesty and depth.
